Valentine's Day

Happy Valentine's Day everyone! James & I thoroughly enjoyed our last Valentine's Day as a 2-person family. I think what made it such a great day, was the fact that nothing was planned. We played everything by ear and it ended up being a very romantic evening. I began the day with a bathroom mirror note to my hubby just telling him how much I love him before I rushed off to work at 7am. We were both so busy between work and school all day, I didn't get to see him until 4:30pm. So we settled for loving text messages and phone calls until we got to be together. We had agreed that instead of spending money on flowers, I would rather get myself a new cell phone. So, we went and picked out a cell phone for me together (pink of course, in honor of the holiday). Afterwards, we decided to brave the restaurant scene. We were surprised to find that the most romantic restaurant in Cedar City (which we've never been to) didn't have a wait at all. So, we went to a beautiful dinner at a cute little restaurant called The Garden House. It is a little house that used to be a bed & breakfast that has been converted into an elegant restaurant. We sat by the window and stared at the white lights outside reflecting on the fresh snow. It was so pretty and peaceful. It was really nice to go out together and have a romantic dinner, just enjoying conversations about our lives and the future we are facing together. It was a great way to celebrate our love for each other. Nothing too over the top. I feel so lucky to know that James is my husband forever and that he is the father of my future children. (Future as in 5 weeks, in case anyone is counting...)
We love you all and appreciate the relationships we have with each of our family members and friends. I love Valentine's Day! It's such a good reminder to tell everyone how much you love them. I'm sorry I don't tell you all on a more regular basis. I hope you all enjoyed your Valentine's Day as well. xoxo

Goodbye Cedar City, Hello Kanab???

Hello everyone! Well, the West family has some very exciting news! James and I will be leaving the small town of Cedar City, Utah and will be moving to the even smaller town of Kanab, Utah! This town is so small it makes Cedar City look like New York City! :) This move might be a shock to most of you, but we are actually very excited. James was offered the Assistant Manager position at a brand new Holiday Inn Express in Kanab. After a week of prayerful thought, we decided this was the right move for us. He will gain great experience that he will definitely be able to use to move up the corporate ladder later on. He will be in charge of Group Sales, breakfast operations and maintenance. The pay is a very good start for a brand new college graduate too. I am so proud of him! I have been offered a job also that will definitely help us make ends meet. I also have a friend there that has offered to help with daycare for David and we've made a few contacts to find a place to live. We have gotten all the balls rolling, now we just have to make the final move in May. James will be graduating from SUU on May 3rd and after a week in Disneyworld with my family... we will begin our new lives in Kanab. If any of you have ever had the desire to see the Grand Canyon or Lake Powell, feel free to stop by and visit us on the way. Hey, you already have a contact at the best hotel in the city!

34 Weeks

34 weeks down, only 6 more to go! We are so excited to meet our little boy in just 6 short weeks! This week has been an interesting week for our pregnancy. I had my 34 week appointment on Tuesday and everything went just fine. The typical 5 minute appointment... good heartbeat, good measurements, any questions? The interesting part came on Wednesday night when our normally VERY active little boy wasn't moving. I didn't want to over analyze, so I tried eating and lied down in bed for a little while. Nothing. James finally came to bed and we felt him kick a few times. Enough to put me at ease enough to go to sleep. I woke up Thursday morning and still didn't feel any movement. I continued getting ready for work and ate breakfast. After another hour of no movement, I finally gave in and called my doctor's office. She had me go straight to the hospital to have the Labor & Delivery nurse do a non-stress test on the baby. Not even 10 minutes after the nurse put the monitor on my belly, our little boy was back! That poor monitor was jumping all over the place! :) So, it seems we have a little prankster on our hands. I just hope he doesn't make this little game a weekly ritual. For all of you that may be wondering, he has been moving constantly ever since we left the hospital. So all is fine with baby David!

My Baby Shower!

This past Saturday I was lucky enough to have my wonderful sister throw me a baby shower! It was so fun! It was so great to share my excitement of becoming a mother with so many family members and friends. My sisters and mom worked so hard on the food and everything turned out great. Ange even made miniature cupcakes and named them "Baby DJ's Babycakes". Super cute! I had a blast opening up so many adorable and hilarious clothes for my baby boy! I just can't wait to dress him up everyday... even when it is 2-3 times a day. :) Thanks to everyone who was able to make it to the shower and for all the love and support we've been given by our family and friends all over this beautiful country.

30 Weeks!!!

Hooray! I am officially in the 30's... weeks that is. (Not that the age of 30 is bad, but I am certainly enjoying only being halfway through my 20's. hehe) I had my most recent doctor's appointment last Wednesday and everything is great! Our little David is measuring right where he should be and his heartbeat is very strong and loud. Even though we are still 10 weeks away from our calling of parenthood, we had a blast putting together a little "nursery" in our apartment. (The term nursery is used loosely, as it is actually supposed to be our dining room.) James put together our new crib and I washed all the baby clothes we have gotten and put them in our Rubbermaid dresser drawers. Fun, fun, fun!
